When success comes within their reach, fear of the unfamiliar will often lead to people clinging to their comfortable old self-defeating ways. They will stay firmly within their comfort zone.

However, successful leaders will draw on their experiences in the past, helping to push on through these fears, move closer to their goals and on to bigger and better things. They work well with ambiguity, break out of their comfort zone and develop new paths forward.

Here are some ways to you can learn from your past experiences and do the same:

  • what can you appreciate about the experience?
  • what could you have done differently?
  • if you have to go through something like that again, what would you change in your attitude and what would you change in your behaviour?
  • what would you teach others about your experiences, so they may learn from what you have done?
