If you take a look at the leaders you admire most in this world, they are only as good as the people around them.
Top leaders are where they are today because of the decisions they made in the past and the potential impact of those they will make in the future.
But do they do it all on their own?
Of course the answer is NO!
They will have a team in place to help, support and initiate action. The most effective leaders that you come across will also have a support structure in place to ensure his or her own success.
- recruiting the best people
- having a large network of fellow professionals
- learning new skills to stay ahead
- attending conferences, seminars and master-classes
- having a coach / mentor
So, what support structure have you got in place?
Where can you go to get a different point of view on the issues that you are facing?
Who can you turn to, to act as a sounding board for your ideas?
Who are your Thinking Buddies?
Thinking buddies are a group of like minded individuals you can bounce around ideas with, helping and supporting each other. The group does not have to be made up from your own team, but it could.
More likely, this support network would be made up of leaders from different industries and different outlooks – you name it.
The objective of the group is to meet on a regular basis, say once a month, where you can share ideas, the problems you are facing and gain a different perspective on things.
If your place of work is surrounded by other businesses, why not call them up and see if they would be willing to participate.
If you are interested in setting up your own leaders group, but don’t know where to start, then drop me a line to talk it over.
